Romana was recognized as one of the top performing therapists at HGI Counseling, and it is with her acquired skills and experiences that she transitions to private practice, MURAQABA COUNSELING. She is dedicated to the pursuit of lifelong learning which will enable her to best serve her clients.

Romana was born in Canada and raised in Houston, Texas. Born to immigrant parents from India, she understands the struggles of being a racial and religious minority in the US and finding a healthy cultural balance while preserving religious identity and heritage. Romana pursued an MBA and spent subsequent years engaged in family and community, which was when she realized the need for therapists who are culturally informed and sensitive. Her experiences with people and community inspired her professional journey to pursue counseling.
Romana Ahmed is a licensed marriage and family therapist, trained in Collaborative Dialogical Practices at the institute where this therapeutic modality was founded. Her formative professional years were at HGI Counseling, a non-profit organization, where she was mentored by some of the most astute and compassionate therapists in the field. HGI Counseling is foundational in Romana’s professional growth as a therapist as it offered her excellent supervision, and broad experiences with a diverse client base during her 7 years at the institute.
